中华小厨师 is one of the 1st cooking comics that I read. I like the fact that it not only has the exciting cooking competition but also it kinda imitates 水浒传 with the 108 people as the "villan" who try to revolutionize / take over the world of chefs.
In that story it shows a lot of ingredient and also what happened when some of them were mixed together ( to cause pain/harm or to cure). That is probably the most interesting part for me.
But that rice ball rolling down the Great Wall is just a bit over...
Another comic that I would recommend is 炒翻天 and its sequel by 西條真二. it not only shows the fierce competitive nature of the chefs but also there are humor in the story.
Also the name that the author use for each dish is sometimes hilarious
